“Our black termite mushrooms are tender, fresh, sweet, and crispy, with various nutrients such as protein and amino acids. There are discounts if you place orders today.”
On June 27, a livestreaming session was launched through the official Douyin account “Fuxiaoer” of Fuxing Town government in Baojing County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture for one hour, and 50 orders of black termite mushrooms were received.
In 2023, the Shandong Chamber of Commerce in Hunan Province established Baojing Fengchaoshan Edible Mushroom Co., Ltd. with the Ganxi Village Stock Economic Cooperative in Fuxing Town, imparting planting techniques and providing more than 30 jobs.
“Black termite mushrooms grow very quickly. We have to pick them three times a day, with each time for over an hour. We can earn 90 yuan per day,” said a villager from Ganxi Village, who was picking mushrooms at the planting base.
Teng Liyao, head of the company, said that black termite mushrooms have high unit output value with less land area. One stick can produce about 0.5 kilograms of termite mushrooms, and it only takes one month from cultivation to fruiting. At present, there are over 14,000 sticks of black termite mushrooms in the planting base, with an estimated annual production of over 7,500 kilograms.
The mushrooms are sold online and offline. Some mushrooms are directly sold in fresh supermarkets, restaurants and hotels, with high-quality ones sold for 60 yuan per kilogram. The first-class and second-class mushrooms can be sold for 99.8 yuan and 79.8 yuan per kilogram respectively through the Douyin account “Fuxiaoer”. The products are sold to Changsha, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shanghai and other places.
In addition to selling fresh mushrooms, Ganxi Village has also developed products such as dried mushrooms, mushroom sauce, and mushroom soup to extend the industrial chain. Since the beginning of this year, more than 3,000 kilograms of black termite mushrooms have been sold both online and offline, with a sales revenue of over 130,000 yuan, driving farmers nearby to increase their income.
